Do you find the need to slather on more lip balm or lip gloss? Does the area around your mouth feel tighter? Are your lips more
chapped? Whatever the circumstance or issue, lips over the age of 40 require special attention.
Lips are often the last consideration in the journey of mature skin care. That favorite lip balm may no longer be enough to activate collagen, provide proper moisture ingredients, or deliver the right nutrients to ward off fine lines that frame the lips, or counter dry, chapped lips.
Further, according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association the following are ingredients to avoid and those that help to heal: Avoid: Camphor, Eucalyptus Flavoring (Cinnamon, citrus, mint, and peppermint), Fragrance, Lanolin, Menthol, Octinoxate or oxybenzone, Phenol, Propyl gallate, Salicylic acid. Recommended: Castor seed oil, Ceramides, Dimethicone, Hemp seed oil, Mineral oil, Petrolatum, Shea butter, Sun-protective ingredients, such as titanium oxide or zinc oxide, White petroleum jelly.
